Summertime and BBQ’s – Got Propane?

June 2, 2014

Summer is just around the corner. It’s time for BBQ’s and propane.Propane BBQ

Propane grills and smokers are a quick and easy way to grill the perfect food. It’s a little easier and more convenient than grilling on charcoal. Although some still prefer the flavor of cooking on charcoal, propane seems to be the most popular.

What makes them more popular?

  • Convenience and control – Easy to start and heat up quick.
  • Temperature control – Although not perfect, they excel at holding a steady temp and are easy to manage.
  • Easy to clean – Cleanup is easier because the food drips are usually vaporized.
  • Accessories – Many grills come with an assortment of accessories.

Although grilling in the summertime is more popular, grilling in Southern California is popular pretty much all year long. It’s a simple,  healthful cooking method that brings out the flavor of meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, and even fruits.

Propane BBQ propane…

  • Make sure your propane tank has enough propane and is properly connected to the grill.BBQ
  • Burners should be in the off position when your turning on the propane tank. Then turn the burner on low and hold the ignition button.
  • When lit, adjust the temperature. The lava rocks should be distributed evenly over the burners. this will help distribute the heat.
  • Now you’re ready to grill! Put your food directly on the grate or use a bbq basket for smaller items.
  • When you’re done cooking, turn off your propane tank, then turn off the burners.
  • The lava rocks will stay hot for a while. It’s a good time to brush off the grate with a bbq brush.
  • Maintenance is always important for safe BBQing.

(It’s always a good idea to check the manual that comes with your BBQ, for instructions that pertain to your specific BBQ.)
